HABITAT MITIGATION

Development Permits require utility companies to provide a Habitat Mitigation Plan (HMP) providing compensation for the loss of riparian and wetland habitat, riparian woodland trees and large conifer trees associated with a utility asset vegetation clearing project. Annual reporting and monitoring are required.

Habitat mitigation efforts either onsite or offsite, primarily focus on protecting threatened and endangered species and their habitats, while also ensuring the continued operation and maintenance of a utility’s infrastructure.
